Abigail Rae Wambach, “Abbey”, 10, of Charlotte, NC passed away November 22, 2009 at Levine Children’s Hospital from Long QT Syndrome. She was a 5th grader at Rivergate Elementary School in Steele Creek.
Abbey is survived by her parents, Lorie Wambach and Joe Wambach; sister, Ivey and grandparents, Tommy and Dianne Henderson and Susan Wambach.
The family writes: "Abigail, Lorie and I would like to thank you once again for your overwhelming support and love. You have provided us with the strength and courage needed to cope with a tragic event of a loved one. We all wanted the best for our Babygail. Unfortunately, with a heavy heart I regret to inform you that God had other plans. He decided to keep our angel for his own. We were really hoping to take our Baby home. In the spirit of Abigail, we decided to donate her organs. Abbey has a generous and loving heart. She would have wanted to help other children in need. Her kidneys will go to a child in need of a transplant locally. Lifeshare services also has found a home for her liver to help another child in need in the region. We hope that Abigail can fulfill the miracle we were hoping for with another family."
