Volunteers from the SADS Foundation have already requested hundreds of pieces of material to distribute to their local schools and community meeting places and even their own families. Joining with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Coalition, SADS will expand our Awareness Month efforts throughout October in the hope that knowledge of these potentially deadly arrhythmias will be increased. We'd like you to participate in National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month along with us and we are excited to make SCA Awareness Month a true success and save more young lives!

Each year over 250,000 people will die from sudden cardiac arrest. This year the United States Congress has taken action and declared October Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month and SADS couldn't be happier about it! This month of awareness about SCA will complement our own

A few facts about Sudden Cardiac Arrest and why we need to spread the word about it:
As you know, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the nation’s leading
killers, yet it is still not well understood by doctors, researchers or
recognized by the general public. Most incidents of SCA occur without
any warning signs. Most victims of SCA - 95% - die because they are
not able to receive a life-saving shock from an AED within 4-6 minutes
after the incident. In fact, for those who can be identified to be at
risk for a SCA, an ICD is 98% effective at preventing a deadly arrest.
