question about genetic testing billing 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi, I had genetic testing done with PGXHealth. From the beginning I've been dealing with them and going back and forth on insurance billing and cost and payment plan, etc...they seemed really straightforward and transparent. By the time I found out they'd pay for testing a lot more than what they'd first agreed to I received a bill from the hospital where my doctor works and where the blood sample was drawn, for 9,700, almost double the 5,400 PGX told me the cost of the test was.
Called the hospital to no avail, no answers, no why, how or what. I went there this morning and *they* say they usually get billed by PGX health and they bill the patient (??)
So I was wondering what your experiences were..I can't help but think somebody was out to screw me..
PGX says that if that was the case the bill would have been $5400.
Thanks for any information you can provide.

When my husband had his blood work for Famillion blood test all we paid was a $18 co-pay to draw the blood. The test was $5400.00. This was done Dec 2007. We just got a phone call saying the insurance co was processing the bill..........finally............, the insurance tried to deny payment due to untimely billing etc. Be persistant, keep making calls and visits to billing department take everyone's name and employee number dates and times of calls and visits. Every time you speak to someone mention all the dates and times you spoke to other emplyees. Be nice.......and you will get to the bottom of the billing problem. The only thing I can think of is the Familllion test has many parts to test and they may have charged you indivually for each part of test instead of the test as a whole.
