My experience with an ICD 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hey Everyone

I had an ICD implanted close to 2 years ago as a preventative measure because my brother passed away from sads. I have not had any episodes and so far the experience has been all positive.

Before getting the ICD implanted I was worried about being able to continue with physical activity. However, with the help of some doctors I was comforted in knowing I would be able to continue in most activities.

I'm not sure I'd recommend me as a role model with the ICD considering I probably participate in sports that aren't exactly recommended when you have an ICD. I do mixed martial arts which if you aren't familiar is similiar to boxing, except it encompasses every fighting art. I am not allowed to compete in events because of my icd, but I am able to train. So far I have not had a single problem with my ICD when doing this activity. I am still and avid weight lifter and I still train for mma almost every day.

I wouldn't say I would recommend contact sports with an ICD as it is possible to damage the device, however so far I have had no problems.

If you have any questions ask away! Just thought I'd share my experience with it so far.
