Are you a candidate at any age? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
My niece has just been diagnosed with Brugada Syndrome, when the ventricles pump faster than they should, which could cause sudden death. The only prevention there is for this syndrome is an ICD. Is she too young for this? She's only 2 1/2 years old. If she gets one will they have to replace it as she gets older and bigger? Or will one size fit her her whole life?

as far as i know they have a few different sizes of icds.

Considering you replace them every 5-7 years anyway they would be able to replace the smaller one with a larger one. (Rather than changing a battery in ICDs they just give you a whole new unit.) So basically either way they would be replacing it. However, I have no idea about the age and whether or not she is too young. This is a good question for your cardiologist.
