Re:Just Got an ICD Implanted 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi there,
I have had an ICD for 18 years. I was first implanted in 1990 after a full
sudden death experience that landed me in the hospital for 21 days
At first my entire family lived our lives around MOM and her BOX.
every day I moved about waiting for the dreded event.
Then it happened and it really was not so bad. When I called my Dr.
his response was 'Great that's why we put it there.' From that day on
I decided I could be a cardiac cripple waiting for an event or I could trust the
Doctors, the device and most of all God.
Now 18 years later I am a mother of 2 Long QT children and a Grandmother of
a beautiful little boy. So you see there is live after an ICD.
Relax and be thankful for the research Mr. Vincent and Dr. Keithing have done
and afforded us the comfort of dealing with this condition.

There is a lot of living to be done so
GO LIVE IT.

hi i just wanted to reply to your post as i seen you get your episodes when your emotionaly distressed and havnt eaten. Me to. My dad is a nutritionists and he swears that Magnesuim is a big factor in many heart conditions. When i gort diagnosed with my condition and icd fitted my dad did loads of research. The consultants wont tell you or advise you about magnesuim as there are in the buisness of drug adminstration. Its not there fault its what they know. Anyway iam on a drug called Flecainide and my dad research all the ingrediants...guess what the main ingrediant is magnesuim. I know if you hjave a deficiancy then this effects your heart big time. Iam not saying it will cure your condition but it certainly helps to take magnesuim supplemnts. Talk to your consultant about it although he might not be very helpfull as my consultant wasnt and he advise me not to take magnesuim supplements but i did anyway against his judgement and it has cut my papitations down by half.. You need to talk to some one professional about magnesuim supplements tho as to much can be made for you so you need the corredt dose.
