SADS Foundation :: Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes Foundation

My daughter and I both have long QT. I have been aware of my condition for fifteen years when I was twenty I went into cardiac arrest. I am thirty-five now. My daughter was diagnosed as a toddler and is turning six-teen in August. I would like to give her the Guardasil vaccine, but there isn't much info out there on side effects in patients with Long QT. Does anyone have any info they can share on this?

I would check with your cardio doctor but I would guess the answer would be no. One of the side effects is fainting. Why are these girls fainting? They don't say. Even if the drug isn't on the don't take list doesn't mean that its safe for us to take. I wanted to take the new drug to quit smoking and my doctor said no they just don't know enough about it. Thats what 's so hard about long Qt there is so much they still don't know. I think that I will go on guardasil's website and see what I can find out on it.

My daughter has LQT3 and had an ICD put in in Dec 2006. During the summer of 2007 she had the gardasil series and she has been fine. She has had no side effects at all. I'm really glad I did it.
