who should be screened? 4 Months ago Karma: 0
My daughter takes albuterol, one of the drugs on the long QT list, and when she needs antibiotics, they give her azithromycin, another drug on the list, because she has allergies to more common antibiotics, amoxicillin and erythromycin. So since she is taking two drugs that can cause it, does this increase her risk and should I get her screened for long QTS? As far as I know she doesn't have it, but she is adopted, I don't know much of her family history.

So I guess what I am trying to ask is WHO should be screened for long QTS and how do they get screened, and should any child who routinelhy takes a medicine on the list be screened? I apologize if the answer is on this website somewhere, but I didn't see it. Thanks in advance.

We have material at the foundation on who should be screened and, if you'd like, I can email that directly to you. Has your daughter ever been seen by and EP or a cardiologist? A useful tool for you to look at right now is our Risk Assessment. You can find that posted here: http://www.sads.org/index.php/General/Where-to-Start.html
