David Walliams launches The Heart Screening Awareness Partnership with Philips and CRY

Philips and CRY have launched The Heart Screening Awareness Partnership, designed to help families understand the simple steps involved.  David Walliams has supported this launch by appearing in a short film designed to show young people that the screening process is not a scary one.

Song recorded to raise money and awareness for CRY

James Poynton wrote the words for 'Girl' when he was 8 years old.  Just before his 12th birthday, James died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition.  The song has now been recorded by the band Daywalker to help raise funds for CRY.

Families gather to unveil striking new postcard to highlight tragic heart condition

CRY has re-launched its hard hitting postcard campaign, to highlight new statistics which show that 12 young people lose their lives every week in the UK due to sudden cardiac death.  Follow this link for an interactive 'video postcard' featuring interviews with the relatives of the young people featured on the new postcard.

CRY welcomes new initiative to 'track' sudden cardiac death in the young

An announcement from the Department of Health and a collaboration of pathologists and heart experts, about the establishment of a national pathology database, has received praise from CRY.

CRY Parliamentary Reception 2008 - October 15th  Speeches now added (audio files)

CRY's annual Parliamentary Reception was held in the Terrace Marquee at Westminster.  New CRY Patron James Cracknell OBE was guest of honour at the event, and speakers included the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the Rt. Hon Andy Burnham MP.

Dr Sanjay Sharma voted onto the EACPR Sports Cardiology Section Nucleus

CRY Consultant Cardiologist Dr Sanjay Sharma has been voted onto the EACPR Sports Cardiology Section Nucleus - an elite committee tackling the complex issues of sports cardiology.  He is the only British representative on this group.

Brentford FC announce innovative new partnership with CRY

CRY is proud to announce an innovative new partnership with Brentford FC (whose manager is CRY Patron Andy Scott) who are donating the secondary sponsorship of their away kit to CRY for the 2008/09 season.  For matches where the team are in their away kit, the CRY logo will be displayed on the backs of the players' shirts.

New Secretary of State "kicks off" CRY initiative to help young footballers

The Secretary of State for Media, Culture and Sport - Andy Burnham MP - joined CRY families whose children or partners died suddenly whilst playing football, to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death in the young at a launch at 11 Downing Street.

CRY Heart of London Bridges Sponsored Walk - 20th July 2008

Following the success of CRY's inaugural Heart of London Bridges Sponsored Walk in 2007, the event took place again in 2008. CRY Patron Kathryn Harries once again led the walk, crossing 8 London bridges.  Over 600 CRY supporters took part in the event.  Photos now added!

New labs 'promise' answers for hundreds of bereaved families

The agonising wait endured by many families following the sudden – and tragic – death of a child or partner could soon be over as London opens the UK’s first ever ‘fast-track’ pathology laboratories to help analyse the causes of unexpected cardiac death in ‘apparently’ fit and healthy young people.

CRY Chief Executive awarded MBE

Alison Cox, CRY's Founder and Chief Executive, was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2007, for Services to Healthcare.  Alison says "This honour is a tremendous acknowledgement of the courage and suffering of CRY families."

Inquest into the death of Kasia Ber

John and Diane Ber have released a statement following the Inquest into the sudden death of their daughter, Kasia.  An ECG carried out 11 days before she died showed that Kasia had Long QT syndrome, but the diagnosis was not made.

CRY supporter Julie Tanner wins Diana Memorial Award

We are delighted to announce that young CRY supporter Julie Tanner has won a Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for Young People, in recognition of her efforts in compiling the book "101 Reasons (at least) to Get Up in the Morning" which was launched in November 2005.
