Evaluating Women's Experiences With ICDs
Female Research Participants in Northern California Needed!
Are you a woman aged 18 to 40 with an ICD?
I am a clinical psychology doctoral student attending the Wright Institute in Berkeley,
California. I am looking for volunteers to participate in my confidential study exploring
the experiences of young women with an ICD. My interest stems from personal
experience, as I have an ICD.
This project offers participants the opportunity to share their ICD story and contribute to
a better understanding of the female ICD experience, which helps health care providers
better meet your needs.
"What is the purpose of this study?"
This study sets out to better understand the ICD experience for women aged 18 to 40.
During individual interviews, participants will be asked a series of questions about their
thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to living with an ICD.
"How much of my time would be required?"
Participants will be asked to review and sign a consent form (5 minutes), complete a brief
questionnaire (5 minutes) and take part in an audio-recorded interview (1 to 2 hours).
"Where do I have to go?"
Participants will meet with this researcher individually in a private setting, like your
home, a convenient location near your home, or at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA.
"Can my answers be traced back to me?"
With the exception of a signed consent form, which legally must be stored in the
confidential files of the Wright Institute, only this researcher will have access to your
identifying information. All identifying information, including participants’ names, will
be removed from transcripts and will not appear in the final results.
"Who is eligible?"
Women 18 to 40 years old who have had an ICD for at least three months.
"Will I be paid?"
Upon study completion, participants will receive a $15 gift card.

participating, please contact me:
