Volunteer to Fight SADS!

Volunteer: Koch Family
How does a SADS condition impact you? Please tell us about your own personal experience or how it has impacted someone you are close to.
Our daughter Audrey Claire Koch was pre-diagnosed before birth with likely LQTS-3, since 25 weeks in utero. The diagnosis was confirmed on her birth day, and later confirmed via genetic testing. She is a true angel, and has fought was with smiles and endurance to today's age of 22 months. We live thankful for each day. We look forward to watching her grow and thrive despite her LQTS.
Why do you volunteer for the SADS Foundation?
We cherish the SADS Foundation and find it an honor to volunteer in their name, be it through the mentioned baked sale, passing out brochures, or suggesting family/friends donate to The SADS Foundation...It all is done out of an appreciation for the hard work that The SADS Foundation does in supporting families, educating people, researching for progress, and spreading awareness. Everything they do is for a the betterment of LQTS patients and families.
Please tell us a little about what kind of volunteer activities you do for the SADS Foundation. (i.e. participation in SADS awareness campaigns, responding to advocacy action alerts, attending/organizing SADS events in your community, etc.)
In Fall of 2011, our older daughter Avery's Brownie Troop asked if they could host a Bake Sale in honor of Audrey, at our local town 'Alive After Five' street party event. It was a great success with loads of baked goods sold in to the night! Also, with each baked good sold, the girls passed out red SADS bracelets and pamphlets for education. It was a super fulfilling evening!
What is your favorite part about volunteering for the SADS Foundation?
The hope that one day the good work that the SADS Foundation does will lead to a 'cure', or at least toward progress for improved lives for those with LQTS.
Do you have any advice or final thoughts for others who might be interested in getting more involved with the SADS Foundation?
Just go for it! Don't worry is your effort too small! It all adds up! Be creative! Focus on events where people already are (at a festival, or event already planned/scheduled).
Do you have any additional comments?
We appreciate and LOVE The SADS Foundation!
