Dave, like many others, has been personally affected by SADS. While on tour in 1993 with Bad Company, the band’s tour manager was tragically struck down by SADS. Dave is promoting awareness for the Foundation and reaching out to affected families when possible. Dave has generously remixed his single ‘Reach Out‘ featuring Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith to create an exclusive version for the Foundation titled "Reach Out (Stop SADS Mix)." The song has been adopted as the Official Anthem of the SADS Foundation. Special ringtones, mastertones and ringback versions will also be available via the SADS Foundation website and a portion of website purchases will be donated to the Foundation's programs. Listen to & purchase the song. Listen to the CD before purchasing on our site.
What are people saying about "Reach Out?"
From Kris Flaven: "Dave...awesome on becoming the Rock Star Ambassador to Stop SADS. We look forward to working with you...the remix of Reach Out is fantastic!!"
"Thanks for being a part of SADS . I was diagnosed in my 20s with Long QT at the time I had 3 small children ages 5 and under. Since then my family has grown to a total of 7 children. I feel so blessed to be given the gift of my children. My one son is a childhood brain cancer survivor and 2 have disabilities. People ask how I get up in the morning with all the health issues. I always say.."It could always be worse" Thanks for making it better for SADS!" - Sandie
When asked, Peter G. Kuys, Chairman of AAO Music Group said “it is absolutely marvelous for our privileged rock community (AAO executives included) to give back and create hope and comfort to as many young people as possible to survive this syndrome.” Kuys further stated, “although the syndrome can be complex, there are warning signs and it can be treated. Creating awareness is a key part and AAO Music and Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell are proud to do our part.”
Guitars, Beers & Tears features many of Bucket’s ‘A-List’ friends including Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith, Edwin McCain, Steve Conte from the NY Dolls, The Quireboys’ Spike, Danny Bowes from Thunder, Bekka Bramlett and Bad Company’s Robert Hart among others. Guitars, Beers & Tears will be available in stores and online on August 17th. The album includes a special Stop SADS insert with information about the SADS Foundation.
